Tips To Help You Prepare For Your Session
Please read these essential tips to help all who will be photographed look great and be ready for their fantastic and fun photo session.
General Tips
Clothing
• Wear what you feel comfortable in and what is appropriate for the style of photos you want. Whatever style you choose, everyone should match that style but not look identical.
• Solid, neutral colors are best. Avoid bright colors and loud prints.
• DO NOT wear white or very light colored pants.
• For group photos, choose complimentary colors for a coordinated look. The group should avoid a range from very dark to very light colored clothing. Avoid black and white.
• Long or 3/4 sleeve tops are very flattering.
• Pets, come as you are, or how mommy and daddy have dressed you.
• People, avoid colors that match your pet and avoid dark colors if your pet loves to deposit hair everywhere.

• Stay with your normal style.
• Blemishes can be easily removed during the editing of your photos for a natural look.
• Go heavier than usual, but not excessive.

• Nice nails are very important for close-ups of you holding your pet.
• Choose a neutral color that won’t distract in your shoot or clash with your outfits. Freshen the morning of the shoot, then be careful not to scuff it while prepping. Your photo shoot is a great excuse for a fresh manicure, but if you can’t go to the salon, make sure your nails look tidy and clean, including the cuticles.

Pets
• If you take your pet to a groomer, try to schedule their grooming the day before the photo session.
• If you are the groomer, bathe your pets the day before the session. Brush, trim and primp them so they look their best.
• Clean around their eyes and mouth. Wipe tear stains to remove any crusties. For long-haired dogs, consider some selective trimming of tear-stained hairs.

Photo Session Tips

• Bring doggie poop bags, combs and brushes, face wipes, water for people and water and bowl for pets.
• Bring your dog's favorite treats.
• Bring bobby pins, hair clips, headbands or any other favorite accessories in case its a windy day.
• Have your lip gloss or lipstick with you for touch-up. Bring kleenex to wipe any lipstick marks from your teeth.

• Exercise your high energy pet before the session to drain some of that energy.
• Potty break your kids and pets before your session.
• For some Special Event sessions you may need to decide which session package and add-ons you will want to purchase as the photo viewing and ordering often takes place immediately after your photo session.

• Working with pet(s), patience and calmness are key. If your furkid is a model at heart, we’ll get some great shots from the start. Others may be shy or rambunctious, so it may take awhile. They will get into the zone and you will have some fantastic images of them.
• You may be asked to help with the kids and pets. Don’t call to them unless you are requested to help. Too many voices will confuse the little ones.
• If you are one of the subjects in the photo along with your kids or furkids, its important to hold your fabulous expression for the camera and not get distracted by the kids.
